Introducing myself

Postby ASupik on Thu Feb 21, 2008 2:47 pm

Hi, I am a recent member of the IRWA and pretty new to ROW.

I am trying to learn all I can about ROW and take as many courses offered by the IRWA as my time (& boss) allow.

Right now I am working on a pipeline project in NY. My part is coming to a close pretty soon, so I have begun the job search.

I am also into horses and am learning a 2nd career as a natrual hoof care professional and hope to be trimming horses when I retire.

I own 2 registered Arabians who are currently in California (which is where I came from ) while I am working in NY. I hope to gradually work my back to CA.

Welcome to the R/W business and it looks like you have a good start by working on a pipeline project. What is your background and what tasks did they have you doing while on the project. There is alot of work out there and I know of some in California, if you are still interested in going back west.

Thanks for the welcome, Mike.

I started out notifying landowners about survey and accomanying surveyors out on the ROW when they surveyed.

Added to that was tracking survey progress: cultural, enviro & civil.

I gathered data for a spread sheet on water wells & springs for submission to FERC.

I also submitted applications for crossing and access road permits for 7 counties and various municipalities.

I gave my notice and am starting a new project in PA next week.

I like the construction end, too and have more experience in managing construction.

I would love to get back to California.
